Clinopyroxene
with amphibole corona. Note
the 90˚ cleavage angles in the cpx and the 120˚/60˚ angle cleavage in
the
amphibole. The amphibole stands out in ppl due to its pleochroism.
Resorbed
phenocrysts are evident - they have reacted with the magma to produce, amongst other
things, opaque
minerals. Zoned plagioclase phenocrysts are present, along with
amphibole phenocrysts that have reaction rims.
Quartz, zoned plagioclase, cpx
and opaque phenocrysts. Plagioclase phenocrysts are not only
optically zoned, but also contain resorption zones. Completely
resorbed phenocrysts are present throughout.
Zoned plagioclased with resorbed zones.
